AI Bundling Trend
Companies that include AI features in their core plans at no extra charge. This is the dominant packaging strategy in the dataset (65 of ~120 companies). Many AI-native companies where the product is AI also fall here, tagged `ai_packaging: core` in the data.

The Pattern
Bundling is the majority play. 65+ companies include AI in their base pricing. The strategic logic:
- Table stakes defense — when competitors bundle, unbundling becomes a competitive liability. Slack, Zoom, Monday all bundled to match each other.
- AI-native companies have no choice — Cursor, Midjourney, Perplexity: the product is AI. Separating it out would be absurd.
- Usage gates replace price gates — companies bundle access but meter usage. Cursor's Pro/Pro+/Ultra tiers differ by AI request limits, not by whether AI exists.
- Intercom's hybrid — bundles Fin AI Agent into all plans but charges $0.99 per resolution on top. Bundled access, usage-based monetization.
The risk: AI compute costs are real. Companies that bundle aggressively may face margin pressure if usage spikes. The tiered companies (Superhuman, Veed, Ramp, Smartsheet) hedge this by gating AI depth by plan level.
